The survivors of Illinois shot the possibilities after taking a bullet to the brain

Crime scene

On the night before Thanksgiving 2021, Smith went on a first date with a woman named Leslie Reeves. The next morning, the first respondents found Smith on his farms, Illinois, a house with a bullet in his brain. Reeves had died.

Shooting the victim in a coma

EMTS Smith rushed to a hospital where he underwent a brain surgery and placed in a medically desirable coma.

A bullet in his brain

Fragments of the bullet remained in the Smith brain. Its doctors say that a bullet recovery may risk causing more damage.

Family support

Smith’s mother, Sharon Costanza, and sister, Ashley Holkumb, sat next to him while he was recovery. Doctors told them that the opportunities were very low that Smith would return to his previous level of work.

No memory

In January 2022, Smith woke up from his coma and asked where it was and what happened. He did not remember anything from the shooting night. He had no memory of his history with Reeves, although he was talking on the phone and corresponding to her two weeks before the shooting.

Diagnosis

Because of Smith’s injuries, the neurosurgeon, Dr. Victor Williams, told Smith that he could not walk again. Williams and his team were devoted to doing everything they could to help Chris to recover.

Life has changed forever

Smith left left partly paralyzed from the hip to his knee. From his knees to his toes, he suffers completely paralyzed. After he left the hospital, he had to return with his mother.

Restore his strength

In most days, Smith goes to the gym and works to restore his strength so that one day he can walk without help.

Survived

Smith says he is determined to stick to his new rent. He returned to sing with the rock band. He suggested to his fiancé, Michelle Albarisht.

New aspirations

Smith hopes to become a motivational speaker and has his own Website.

Miracle recovery

Smith’s mother says that his recovery is no less than a miracle.
