The rapid expansion of the artificial intelligence has changed the way Google and other GIANTS GIANTS products are designed, but most of the artificial intelligence features that you used work on remote servers with a ton of processing power. Your phone has a much lower capacity, but it seems that Google is ready to give developers some important AI tools. In I/O next week, Google is likely to announce a new set of application programming facades to allow developers to take advantage of the AI’s Gemini Nano capabilities on the device.
Google has published documents on the large AI’s new features of developers. according to Android saladThe ML Kit SDK Update will add API support for artificial intelligence features to renew via the Gemini Nano. It is based on Core AI, similar to the experimental edge AI SDK, but it is connected to an existing model with a set of pre -defined features that should be easy for developers to implement.
Google says Genai’s Genai will enable the applications to make a summary and correct rewriting and describe the image without sending data to the cloud. However, Gemini Nano does not have a great deal of energy like the release based on the core group, so expect some restrictions. For example, Google notes that summaries can only have a maximum of three bullet points, and the descriptions of the images will be available in English only. The quality of the outputs can also vary based on the Gemini Nano version on the phone. The size of the standard version is about 100MB, but Gemini Nano Xxs as shown in the 9A is a quarter of the size. It is only a text and has a much smaller context.

This step is good for Android in general because ML Kit works on devices outside the Google Pixel Line. While the Gemini Nano devices are widely used, many other phones are already designed to operate this model, including OnePlus 13, Samsung Galaxy S25 and Xiaomi 15. Since more phones add support to the AI model of Google, developers will be able to target these devices with the features of the AI.
