A 20 -year -old from Venezuela has become the first student at the New York City School, which is being detained by immigration enforcement agents (ICE) since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s term, which has been detained after a routine session of the court.
Now, there are increasing calls to release him.
Parents and teachers at the Elis Prer Academy Academy in the Marble Hill neighborhood in Manhattan expressed his shock after they learned that Dylan Lopez Contreras was detained in the ice last week.
“I just think he is destroyed. I am my mother and I have three children, and I cannot imagine the separation from your child,” said Sherley Austin.
The arrest took place on school ground, but after the court scheduled for Manhattan, according to the Ministry of Internal Security, which confirmed that they had a countere in detention.
According to the defenders, the defenders said that the Contraras did not have a criminal record.
“The situation is just a snare … I went to register the arrival and is now being held. Without legal procedures, they cannot even find it,” said Alexa Avilis, a Brooklyn Council member. “I mean it is terrifying, what is happening.”
When asked about this at a press conference, Mayor Eric Adams was postponed to the federal government.
The mayor said: “People must really understand that this was not in the school building. We do not know what is the result of the court case.”
The Ministry of Internal Security said that the Contrames “entered the United States illegally for more than a year … … ICE is now following the law and the status of illegal foreigners in expedited removal, as they should have always been.”
The New York Legal Assistance Group, which represents Conteraras, said that their client “entered the United States with permission to search for asylum … he works, goes to school, has friends and was completely complied with immigration procedures. All this is to disrupt societies.”
New York City School Advisor Melissa Avilis Ramos said her heart is collapsing for the family and insisted that she is still safe for children looking to resort to school. In a statement published on social media, the advisor said that the city’s Ministry of Education “stands firmly with external students, including our migrant students, and our schools will always be safe spaces for them.”
Others are not sure.
“He is trying to do the right thing,” Austin said. “He appears to the court as it is assumed that he is being held in this process. It is really sad.”
It was not quite clear what would come in the case. Consterras lawyers are fighting to get to stay in the country. In its statement, internal security said that people who can prove the existence of a valid fear of fear will be allowed to survive. But if not, it will be deported.
