Ukrainian officials said a Russian drone hit a passenger bus in the northeast Sumi region in Ukraine on Saturday, killing nine people and wounding four others. The attack came a few hours after Moscow and Kiev held their first direct peace talks in the years that failed to a ceasefire.
The National Police in Ukraine released pictures showing the hunger hunger in the city of Sumi Biloplia, about 6 miles from the line of confrontation and borders with Russia.
The Associated Press independently could not verify the details of the accident. There was no comment from Moscow.
“This is another war crime from Russia – it is a deliberate blow to civil transport that has not pose any threat,” said the regional administration in Sumi in a post on the Telegram.
Russian and Ukrainian officials met in Türkiye on Friday in an attempt to reach a temporary ceasefire, but the talks ended less than two hours without penetration. This was the first face -to -side dialogue between the two sides since the first weeks of Moscow’s invasion in February 2022 for Ukraine.
While both sides agreed to swap a large prisoner, it was clearly far from the main circumstances to end the fighting.

In Istanbul, Kiev and Moscow agreed to exchange 1,000 war prisoners each, according to the heads of both delegations, while it will be the largest of such swap.
The two sides also discussed the ceasefire and a meeting between the heads of state, according to the head of the Ukrainian delegate, Defense Minister Rosstam Omrov.
Midinski, an assistant to President Vladimir Putin, said that both sides agreed to provide each other with detailed proposals for the ceasefire, as Ukraine requested a state meeting, which Russia took into consideration.
