A large new study indicates that women who eat more fiber and high -quality carbohydrates are more likely to be in good health and physical age.
While there is a lot of evidence that shows how the diet affects age and the risk of chronic diseases, the new study focused on how what we eat on the quality of life with our age, according to the report published in the Jama Open.
The researchers at the Jean -Mayer Center, the US Department of Agriculture for Human Nutrition Study nurses, One of the most respected and largest investigations in the causes of chronic diseases in women.
Every four years, between 1984 and 2016, the participants filled a questionnaire asked about the frequency of 130 foods that were consumed during the past year. Options never ranged from six times a day.
The researchers focused on the food data collected in 1984 and 1986, as was the case when women were middle -aged.
“The high -quality high -quality carbohydrates were whole grains, fruits, vegetables and whole legumes,” said scientist Andres Erdison Corre, the lead author of The New Research. “The reason is that they have a lot of fiber and more resistant shapes than starches that slowly collapse in our bodies. Low -quality carbohydrates included refined grains and added sugars.”
Forms resistant to starchLike beans, legumes and whole grains, do not cause high levels of glucose in the blood, in addition to increasing the feeling of fullness and high in fibers.
The researchers have determined healthy aging as survival to the age of 70 while they are free from 11 major chronic disease, including cancer, diabetes, stroke, arthritis and bone disease; Lack of weak memory or physical function; Be in good mental health.
Food Analysis revealed a 31 % more likely possibility of healthy aging among women who had high -quality carbohydrates, while a heavy diet in low -quality carbohydrates has been associated with a rate of 13 % less healthy aging.
Erdison Correa said that healthy aging is a person with a positive degree in four areas:
- There is no great chronic disease.
- Good physical health.
- Good cognitive function.
- Good mental health.
“The person who has good physical health, for example, will be able to raise and carry the groceries, climb a journey from the stairs and walk a certain distance,” said Erdison Corre.
Among the participants in the new study, only 3,706 amounted to 70 chronic diseases. Erdison Cuor was surprised that a few women had accomplished it, but I noticed the Tatst 2024 study on the protein consumption of women who showed similar results. In Erdison Corre’s protein research, women who consumed more vegetable proteins were 46 % more likely in their subsequent years, while women who consumed animal protein, such as beef, chicken, milk, fish and cheese were less likely to stay healthy as they age.
One of the new study restrictions is that it has not explored how high -quality carbohydrates can lead to old age. Also, the participants in the study of the health of the nurses are mostly white women and the results may not represent the wider population.
However, it is important, that researchers looked at how diets can have an effect on healthy aging in general.
“They focused on a really critical period in a woman’s life for the proposal of intervention.”
“This appears with a better interest in the diet, we may have a good quality of life: Can anyone think clearly? Can it work physically well? Can they enter on their own.”
Dr. Jul Bahchiah, head of the Endocrine, Diabetes and metabolism department at New York City Hilth/Woodhoul, said.
Bhacet, who did not participate in the research, said that the strength of the study is that it is “huge.”
“The data in the new study showed that the fruit was good for healthy aging.
“The fruits are a good source of vitamins and minerals,” said Silver, who did not participate in the research. “There is a wide range of small nutrients in it. Don’t get it from many other food groups.”
If people want to eat more healthy, what does silver suggest?
She said, “I recommend eating a variety of fruits.” “But they should eat at least two pieces of fruit a day.”
