Cursor, an AI coding tool, is now giving students a complimentary one-year Cursor Pro subscription. The plan offers unlimited slow requests, fast request limits, and access to premium models.
Students can begin by visiting the student page on Cursor’s official website to submit proof of enrollment or by using a student email address to confirm their status. After verification, users will be prompted to submit payment information in order to sign up for the Pro plan, which is free for a full year.
Unless the subscription is canceled, the plan will renew at its usual cost.
The student offer will take effect right away, and current Pro subscribers will automatically be refunded for any unused time.
In addition to unlimited slow requests, the plan allows 500 fast requests per month for access to premium models such as Grok-3, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, and GPT-4o. Unlimited fast requests for Cursor-small or GPT-4o-mini models are available. In order to pay for requests that exceed the monthly cap for premium models, users can also enable usage-based pricing.
By creating an account with a verified student email, AIM verified the offer. The plan was activated right away, and the verification process went without a hitch.
Students can cancel at any time, but they will still have access until the end of their current billing cycle, the curator noted.
This coincides with reports that OpenAI has agreed to pay $3 billion to acquire Windsurf, another AI coding tool. Earlier this year, Windsurf offered a 50% student discount and launched a “Codeium AI Fellowship” program in an effort to draw in younger users. Through events, workshops, and presentations, one can become a member of the program and work with the Windsurf team to introduce the coding tool to the university.
